Employees

Who is carrying how much revenue, and are they at target? The people-performance roster, with a full profile behind every name.

Who can see it

Everyone — but standard-access users see only their own row

Can you change data here?

Almost nothing. Admins can mark someone on leave.

How fresh is it?

Roster and org data refresh roughly hourly; revenue follows the finance posting cycle

What it's for

Every active employee, with the revenue credited to them, the value of their book, their client retention, how many seats and clients they hold, and how they stand against the target for their role.

It exists so nobody has to stitch together a finance export, an org chart and a check-in report to answer a performance question. Signal takes each client's gross profit, splits it across the people actually staffed on the account using the same rules as Manage Leads, and compares the result against role targets.

Performance reviews, capacity decisions, promotion cases and target-setting all start here.

What you'll see

The roster — one row per person, with:

  • RPE — their credited share of gross profit

  • MRR (book value) — the full monthly value of every client they're on

  • Retention — the share of their clients still with us

  • Seats and Active Clients — how many places they hold and how many distinct clients

  • Target chips — whether they're at, above or below the target for their role

An averages strip at the top: total employees, total gross profit, and averages per person.

Leaderboards — most seats, most clients, highest revenue.

A KPI Rollup tab — hit rate by department and role, or by division: what percentage of a group is at or above target. This is the leadership readout.

A profile drawer — click any row for their accounts, VABO allocations, reported hours, and month-by-month history.

How to use it

  1. Review a team. Filter to a division or department, sort by RPE or retention, and scan the target chips. Open anyone showing "below" — is it a thin book, churn, or an allocation problem? Each points to a different fix.

  2. Report target attainment. Switch to KPI Rollup, group by Department & Role, and read the hit rate per group — "Paid Media Account Managers: 62% at or above target." Export it for the deck.

  3. Prepare a 1:1 or a promotion case. Filter to the person, open their drawer, then History. Is RPE trending up? Is the book growing? Did retention hold? Cross-check their reported hours against the company benchmark to see whether the output is sustainable.

  4. Spot overload. Use the Most Seats and Most Clients leaderboards, then check hours against the benchmark. Rebalance in Manage Leads.

  5. Keep averages honest during a leave (admins). Open the person's drawer and Mark On Leave. They drop out of every average and rollup in Signal until you remove it, so team numbers aren't dragged down by an absence.

  6. Check your own record. Everyone can open Employees and see their own row — credited revenue, retention, seats, targets — and click into the detail.

What you can change

Very little, deliberately.

  • Mark On Leave / Remove Leave — admins only, in the profile drawer. It excludes the person from every average and rollup across Signal. Note it's a single global flag: it applies to all months, not just the one you're looking at.

  • Adjust Allocation — admins only. It doesn't change anything here; it takes you to Manage Leads filtered to that person, which is where splits are actually edited.

  • Request Title / Dept / Division Change — opens an intake form. Org data lives in Nova, so that's where the change happens.

  • Column choices and exports are personal to your browser.

Good to know

Reasons a person might look wrong or be missing — these cover almost every case:

  • Unassigned people are hidden by default. The roster shows people leading at least one client with revenue activity. Tick Show unassigned to see everyone, or just search their name — searching always finds them.

  • People with an unknown division or department are dropped from the roster entirely. That's an org-data fix in Nova.

  • Someone marked on leave is excluded from averages everywhere in Signal, for all months.

  • They may not be on the roster at all — terminated, or without a company email address.

  • Employment type is matched by name between systems and is best-effort. Blanks happen when names differ.

  • Targets depend on a job-title match. If someone's Nova title isn't in the People-team sheet, they get no target chips and are excluded from hit rate. See KPI Targets.

  • Column labels change with the month selection. With one month selected, credited gross profit and monthly RPE are the same number, so you see one column called "RPE". Select several months and you get both a total and an average.

  • Org changes take up to about an hour to appear — there's a sync between Nova and Signal plus caching on top.

  • The Avg Client Hrs/Wk column is admin-only data. It's offered to everyone in the column picker, but non-admins just see dashes. The hours section inside the profile drawer works for everyone.

Common questions

Why doesn't the gross profit here match our finance system? It's each person's credited share after team splits and any percentage overrides, averaged or summed over the months you selected. Compare totals to finance, not individual splits — and check your month selection first.

Why can I only see my own row? You're on standard access. See Who can see what.

Someone is missing from the list. Four usual causes: they lead no client with revenue activity (tick "Show unassigned"); their Nova division or department is unknown; they're marked on leave; or they aren't on the roster at all. Searching their name by hand rules out the first one instantly.

What exactly is RPE, and does it include VABO? RPE is their credited share of gross profit from active accounts, per month, plus their VABO share. Yes, VABO is included — rows carrying it show a "+VABO" pill. VABO credit only goes to people set as VABO leads on Manage Leads.

Why does the column say "RPE" sometimes and "Total Gross Profit" other times? With one month selected the two are identical, so Signal shows one column. Select several months to see the total and the monthly average separately.

How do I change someone's target? Update the People-team sheet, then re-run the sync from KPI Targets. Targets are matched by job title, so a title that isn't in the sheet gets nothing.

What does "retained" mean on someone's accounts? A client is retained in a month if their churn date is empty or falls after that month ends. A client churning in August still counts as retained for July. Someone with no clients shows 100%.

How do I fix a wrong title, department or division? Not in Signal — it comes from Nova. Use the Request Title / Dept / Division Change link in the person's drawer. Allow about an hour after the Nova change lands.

Why did someone's RPE change after a Manage Leads edit? Because that's exactly what Manage Leads controls. Team changes and percentage overrides re-split the client's revenue immediately, which moves RPE, book value and leaderboard position.
