What it's for
No upstream system reliably answers "who owns this account today, and who should be credited with its revenue?" Our finance system knows what each client pays per department. Nova has a staffing record that can be incomplete. Manage Leads closes the gap.
It lists every revenue-bearing client, shows each department's monthly revenue, pre-fills the team from Nova's staffing history, and lets you assert the real team — who leads, who supports, what Consulting role each person holds, and the exact revenue percentage each person should get when the default split doesn't reflect reality.
This matters more than it looks. Every Signal number that says "this person manages $X" — books, credited revenue, seat counts, capacity — comes from what someone saved here.
What you'll see
One card per client, with its revenue, seat count, department count, and an Active or Churned pill.
One row per department inside each card, showing that department's monthly revenue and the people on it.
Person chips, each with an allocation percentage, allocated dollars, and a badge — L/S for lead or support, or a Consulting role (Sr. AD / AD / AM / PM).
AD and Sr. AD chips in the card header, for the client-level Account Director and Senior Account Director.
Filters, including Unassigned Only — the single most useful control on the page.
A Log button showing who changed which team and when.
Export XLSX — one row per client, department and person, with roles, percentages and dollars.
How to use it
Bring a new client under management. A new client shows the team Signal detected from Nova. The first time you edit it, Signal asks whether to Adopt & manage (keep the detected team as your starting point) or Start blank. After that choice, what's saved in Signal is the source of truth for that client's teams.
Review after the monthly rollover. On the 1st of each month, last month's teams and percentages are copied forward automatically. Filter to your division, then correct what's stale — people who rolled off, clients that churned. Ten minutes here keeps everyone's numbers clean for the whole month.
Make a team change. Click × on a chip (you get about five seconds to undo), click Add, search the replacement, and use the arrows to put the true lead first — the lead gets the largest default share. This saves immediately, and each row tells you "Saving… → Saved" or offers a retry.
Fix attribution with a custom split. When the default split misrepresents reality — one person doing 80% of the work — click a percentage, type the real number, and press the row's Save. Totals above 100% are blocked. The reset arrow returns the row to the default rules.
Correct Consulting roles. On a Consulting row, click someone's role badge to move them between Sr. AD / AD / AM / PM — this changes how revenue is split. Use +2nd Seat when one person covers two roles: it adds a seat without changing their revenue credit.
Set the Account Director. On non-Consulting clients, the AD and Sr. AD chips in the card header do this — and they write straight into Nova, so Nova and Signal agree. On Consulting clients there's no chip: the AD is derived from the Consulting team you save, and pushed to Nova afterwards.
Close coverage gaps. Tick Unassigned Only to list every department carrying revenue with nobody assigned. That's revenue credited to no one — invisible in every book and capacity plan. Each row is either a data gap to fix or a genuinely unstaffed account to escalate.
Audit or report. Use Log for the change history, or Export XLSX for finance and ops. The export stays disabled until saved assignments finish loading, so it can never accidentally export the auto-detected fallback.
What you can change
What | Where it goes | Saves how |
Who's on a department team | Signal, per client, department and month | Immediately |
The order of people (who's lead) | Signal | Immediately |
Consulting roles and second seats | Signal | Immediately |
Custom revenue percentages | Signal | Explicit Save button per row |
Account Director / Senior AD | Directly into Nova | Immediately |
Adopt & manage / Start blank | Signal | On confirmation |
Every save records who made it. Nothing here writes to the finance system or payroll.
The default splits
When no custom percentage is saved, Signal applies standard rules based on team size:
Most departments: 1 person 100% · 2 people 60/40 · 3 people 50/30/20 · 4 or more 30/30/20/20, with the fourth share divided among everyone beyond the fourth.
Consulting is role-based and calculated on the client's total revenue rather than just the Consulting row: AD + AM 60/40 · AD + AM + PM 50/35/15 · Sr. AD + AD + AM + PM 30/35/25/10.
These are current working values rather than ratified policy, and the on-screen Allocation Rules tooltip always shows what's live. When some people on a row have custom percentages, the rest share what's left over evenly.
Good to know
Assignments are per month. Editing a past month rewrites that month's record, and you'll get a warning banner. Anything recalculated from it changes too — so coordinate before editing history.
Custom percentages don't reach every number in Signal. They change this screen, its export, and the per-person books on Employees. Some server-calculated rollups use team membership only, not your custom percentages. If a report seems to ignore your split, that's why.
A client can appear twice — as "Client – B2B" and "Client – Lifestyle" — when it has active revenue in more than one division. Teams are then assigned per division. About ten clients work this way, and their per-division teams exist only in Signal because Nova can't represent them.
On those multi-division cards, the AD chip still sets a single client-wide Account Director in Nova, not a per-division one. Worth knowing before you use it there.
Different actions save differently. People, order and roles save the moment you change them. Percentages need the row's Save button. This catches people out.
VABO rows are shown but excluded from seat and revenue rollups. The department row named for Nova is revenue-tracked but can't be staffed.
Revenue can be a few hours behind. The finance data behind these rows is cached. A same-day change upstream won't appear immediately.
Saves are more careful than they look. New rows are written before old ones are deleted, then read back to confirm, with automatic retries and a background backup on every save. A stuck save shows a retry button and replaying it is safe.
Common questions
Why doesn't the revenue match our finance system? Check the month selector first, then allow for caching of a few hours. VABO is displayed but excluded from rollups, and negative-revenue rows are dropped. If it still disagrees, flag it through Corrections.
How do I get access? Team Lead or above. It's granted automatically at sign-in if you're an Account Director or Group Director on any active client in Nova; otherwise ask a Signal admin.
Where does the team come from if nobody has ever edited it? Nova's staffing history. That's a starting point only — the first time you edit the client, Signal asks whether to adopt it or start blank. After that, what's in Signal wins.
Can I change the default percentages? Not the defaults themselves — they're set in the app. But you can override any row: click a percentage, type the real number, press Save. Overrides are stored per client, department, month and person.
When I change the AD chip, does Nova get updated? Yes, directly, and Nova records it in its own history. On Consulting clients there's no chip — the AD is derived from the team you save and pushed to Nova after. If that push fails you'll see "Saved in Signal, but Nova sync failed."
My save failed or is stuck. Did I lose data? No. Saves write before deleting and verify afterwards, with retries, and every save is backed up. Click Retry — replaying it is safe. If you removed the wrong person, the undo toast gives you a few seconds.
It says Saved but the lead didn't actually change. This has been reported occasionally and is being investigated. If it happens, please report it through Corrections or to the Signal team with the client name, the month, and exactly who you selected — that detail is what makes it diagnosable.
What happens at the start of a new month? Last month's teams and percentages are copied forward automatically on the 1st. Nothing is copied into a month that already has data, so your manual edits are never overwritten.
What does "Unassigned Only" show and why should I care? Department rows carrying revenue with nobody assigned. That revenue is credited to nobody and therefore invisible in every book, target and capacity plan. It's the fastest way to find attribution gaps after a rollover or a staffing change.
